give me Sydney Town and I'll be well satisfied for there's no place like Home.                                                            By night London has a very peculiar appearance - All windows have blinds drawn, all street and most car lamps are half painted over, black toward the sky & white towards the pavement. One evening we noticed the searchlights in operation. The prices of foodstuffs were something appalling. I must give a few examples - Fresh eggs 5 for 1/-. Long loin chops 10½d. Scraps & flanks of mutton such as we use for catsmeat  8d a lb, meat pies 4d each, cakes 1½ & 2d  & 2½ ea, cup of tea 2½d, capstan cigarettes 4d  otherwise tobaccos slightly
