are soon whirling away thro the houses leaving behind the ports and hills of Plymouth. Our journey soon takes us out into the open country where we all marvel at and appreciate the beautiful foliage of the trees & also the pretty, beautifully grassed meadows so neatly divided by hedges of a darker green. These meadows of such small acreage (mostly about 1/2 or 1/4 acre) afford much amusement to our lads who have seen "outback" life among the sheep & cattle.

These richly verdured, gently undulating hills succeed in occupying our attention till we come to Exeter where the Lady Mayoresses' Committee
