houses set amidst foliage of the most beautiful green. On returning I was obliged to foot it alone & made the pace a "stinger". Another trip which we did together was to Amesbury, hardly as pretty as Shrewton but possessing an extremely interesting church, part of which dates back almost one thousand years. Another evening we walked to a small village called Durrington, and, I am ashamed to relate went in to the service in the old Church of England there when it was nearly over, mainly to see the inside of the church.
