& runs along the base of steep and unsightly cliffs. The city & hotels are situate on the top of the cliffs & so have no view of the beach. This really as a great pity. Bourrnemouth is quite unlike our Manly for this reason & would compare better but still unfavourably with Cronulla. There are no buildings of particular interest in Bournemouth & during the afternoon we made the tram trip out to Christchurch which is situated 5 miles up the coast nearly to the mouth of the Avon.
