We all returned to ship by about 5pm. Before landing at Durban we heard of a big battle in the North Sea. Before landing at Capetown we heard of Lord Kitchener's death. Can this be a fabrication and a ruse by the British? Last night we were not allowed ashore for fear the men should become too merry.
8/6/16 Instead of getting leave again today the ship was moved away from the wharf and anchored in the harbour where we remained aboard all day also on
