I got to the beach safely where I was patched up & sent aboard the naval launch to the ship & then I had another narrow squeak as the Turks were trying to stop the launches taking the wounded aboard with their shrapnel & one of the bullets from the shell came in the boat & dropped into quite peaceably in the bottom of the boat & I put it in my pocket.
