I am sure if the crowd at home knew the conditions here they would not have been so ready to vote Yes! & I'm jolly glad I didnt & we cant none of us think why these reports are put in print of the good times we are having.
When I was going up to London I met a captain on ten days' leave from the front & he said that the shells that come from America are useless as some are either too long, or too small for our guns & that thousands are sent back to the base, & he can't understand it as he said that there were English experts over there.
The public dont know half as he said it wouldn't do for some reason or other.
There is a lot of the 22nd Rfts. going to France on Saturday night, but not me yet as I'm just marking time for better weather & when I feel well enough, as I dont mind in the least being in the trenches in time for this next Big Push & want to be there for it.
