over the decks, & big guns, and they cheered to the echo and the cheers from our decks were almost as loud.

Three days after we had got out we sighted a ship right ahead of ours and after a short time we passed her, and as the sea was exceptionally smooth we passed no more than three hundred yds of this boat, who also had a cargo of diggers and needless to say cheers & whistling was very brisk.  Capetown was our first stop where one and all had a royal time.  The people here are splendid & turn out in full force to give the Aussie ships a good welcome.  We were ashore for 4 days and never once was there nowhere to go.  I was on a different sightseeing stunt every day.  I went up to the top of
