Dearest Mother
A few lines to tell you I am still alive & getting right once more. I hope you got my letter from Gibraltar safely.
You will see that I am still here & having a good rest.
The weather is glorious as it is the English summer & beats ours out of sight & the country & the scenes are beautiful & I am sure you would love to be here as everything is such a beautiful green & all the fields are one mass of yellow buttercups, others are white with daisys while others are a beautiful red with poppies & from a distance look like if a battle had been fought.
There is a Miss Alcock from Sydney over here looking after the poor little Belgian kiddies who were brought over when the squareheads
