hot water for very soon the news spread round the city & hundreds of khaki forms soon gathered round the shop & a general attack was made & windows & chairs were broken galore & last night the attack was renewed & the mounted police were called out & several people got hurt, it lasted for about twenty minutes & was good while it lasted.

I went up up for the coporal [Corporal] last week but never got through as there is so much to know but might have another shot later on.

I got a letter from Mrs Skelton & I'm getting off to morrow to go and meet the "Indarra" & see Miss Skelton & write to Mrs Skelton next time & also to Mrs Williams.

I also got one from Miss Nowland.

You mentioned about keeping out of the brushes with the Victorians but I'm going to tell you it can't be helped & I'm jolly sure I'm not going to have any cheek from anyone of them, it is in me to fight, but I think very soon they will  have the corners rounded.  The other day there was three of them on to one of our [indecipherable] chaps, this was along the road but when I came up there was more fun, as they started the boot tricks so I only let two of my mine go once or twice
