Dear Dad
Received your last letter dated 21st Dec. & two before that, also a "Sun". I have'nt met Rod or Rex & have not got any reply to letters I have written on two different occasions.
When I first landed here there was a letter from Rod which was written about four days before I got here, & I laughed at it for a week as usual it was very funny & he said I was a fool for coming back as the Somme was a bad place & he had scores of adjectives before it & wished he was out of it. Rex is O.K.
We are having a very cold time getting up at dark & off on to drill with our puttees & tunics off.
I saw a bit in the Sun of what a good time the Australians are having on Salisbury, but it is a pack of lies, as things are all over the place. Our pay is not at all regular, sometimes
