juggling performers when I heard one of the attendants say to another "The car got smashed to atoms" when his mate said "to shut up & not float the news about", & so I went & had a look to see if I could see anything but only saw all the other little cars stopped on the different parts of the rail, so it came time to go & was walking home along the St Kilda road, when a lady who was standing at her gate asked us if we had heard anything of the accident at St Kilda & I said that I had heard a rumour & she told me that she had just received a telephone message to the effect that 17 were killed & two or three wounded & as she told us she had her two sons enjoying themselves both she & her husband went out in a motor car to find out, so you know how badly the paper is wanted this morning as the news is all through "Camp City".
