& is a Lieut. on the H.M.S. London which has been peppering the Turks at the Dardanelles.
I've seen this jokers photo & he looks a real character & he has knocked about Australia a lot.
All round the coast here there are all kinds of guns & huge masses of barbed wire entanglements & lovely trenches & with water laid on & any one would get a pretty lively reception who landed or even tried to.
This is a good camp for getting out & there are scores of ways to get out but the trouble is the pickets who are in town & they chase everyone out at 9.30 if they spot us but as long as we're out of the way we're right & we can come home safely after 10-30 when the pickets go home themselves but I have a good place to get out of sight until all's well. I land in at about twelve each night just a few hours "shut eye" does me as my head
