Dear Mother
I received your long newsy letter two or three days ago with the "Sun" but so far the music you spoke of has not yet come to hand.
I'm sorry the photos didnt turn out to your liking but somehow I don't like being "took", as the way they fool about putty putting you into this way & that that it gets my "hair off", but send them down & I'll write over them as you suggested. It has been fairly hot down here during the week & today it is blowing half a gale & the mud which is dry & hard forms tons of dust & so we can't see for dust & it gets all over the place & into the food.
There has been some trouble in town & I dont know if it was in the Sydney papers but the other night a lot of soldiers went into a dago's shop for a feed of fish where the [they] saw a photo of kaiser bill & the german flag alongside & of course they took it down & tore it up & the dago told them he ("Bill") was to be their future boss & that got him into
