Durban

Dear Mother

Well our old ship got here last night after a good run.  I met the Hardwins & went out to their place.

Leon has been in German East Africa & is being returned with fever.

This town is full of soldiers mostly tommies who have been in France & have been sent here for a rest.

By what I have been told of the East African Campaign it was worse than Gallopolli [Gallipoli}.  Ulric could not get in the forces & naturally he feels sore.  They asked me if I saw or heard of Inez as they have'nt heard of her for over three years.

The Benalla has come in & they have had meningitis & have
