Dear Mother

I have been too ill to write of late but I have have come across some letters I wrote on the boat which I put in my kit bag and it has only just come to hand so I am sending them on.

I have just come back from four days leave & I spent them with Joss, & I had an awful cold & my temperature has been 100 for two days.

I went to the doctor here, he is no good & is killing our men.

Dear little Joss said she was writing you & I do hope she does, as I'm sure you will just love her as she is such a dear sweet girl & I will be glad when you meet her, as she is so highly accomplished & my word she has a glorious voice.
