Have written to the two boys but have had no reply yet.
I have met a few of my old cobbers which are remnents of the old 13th, & they all must have been a big crowd, as they seem to stand out above the new crowd which are here. We have'nt been paid a cent & we are all starving for smokes as we are dead broke.
They are treating us rotten in the way of pay as some of the older hands have £50 & upwards & they only get perhaps 5/- or 10/- a pay & then pay days are very irregular some times as long as three weeks interval between. This is the second guard I have done in three days, we mount at 4 p.m. till 4 p.m. the next day & up as usual in the dark & do hard work all day till dark, & then they grab me for another go, so I wont be sorry when
