& happy they did the distance to the docks in very quick time then commenced pushing & crowding, my mates soon got left behind & when I eventually got on board I was able to save them a seat. Then we left France & had a good journey over & 5 AM Dec 5 saw the Isle of Wright then at 7 oclock saw us entering Southampton the next berth to the giant ship Aquatania. we got straight on to the train & it was a treat to hear everybody speaking English we were soon on our way to London how lovely to be in a good fast train. People waved to us from the houses & streets 10-30 saw us at Waterloo we got a taxi to Horseferry Road & then I went home to our London business & arrived home for the first time for over three years and a half. My brother hardly regonised me at first but after a wash & clean up & a feed
