The morning after the night before. May 3rd had half a days gas drill
May 4th marched to Le Harve & boarded another cattle truck train at the station of Merchandises after the usual rotten journey we arrived at Pernois. During the journey we picked flowers along the track once the train started to go but we put on a spurt & easily caught it up again. Pernois was reached on May 5th at 6 am. Raining hard. it was here that we heard of the way the boys recaptured Villers Bretonnaux. Went into a rotten camp food rotten & spoilt. Lucky to get any at times
May 7th Rained all night. Woke up at 4 am wet through & six inches of water in our tent all blankets & clothes wet through Cursed as only soldiers can paraded to get back to my Unit the 8th Field Ambulance which was like a home after this lot on May 10th I rejoined my unit at
