rolls from the Lady Mayoress & people of Exeter which were very acceptable. The Tommies had a guard on the station & when we left they presented arms to us & the boys cheered as only Australians can. It was a pleasent surprise for us & the people of Exeter have spent over £15,000 giving tea & rolls to every batch of soldiers that pass through Exeter since 1914. After passing through glorious Devon we arrived at Plymouth & eventually embarked on the Borda, left the wharf & dropped anchor off the Hoe Plymouth Oct 21st 18 some call this place Devonport its all one large town. The boats in our convoy were the Borda, Sardinia, Durham, & Port Lyttleton with 1914 men & a band on board. Also the Marathon which was left
