sorry for us as he expected us the night before but he said he would try to get us over to England that night so we had a wash & clean up & something one could call tea & Bully & Biscuits moreover we were placed in stables of rough cobbles even then some of the chaps fell to sleep. We were to fall in at 7-30 to march to the boat, at 6-30 they started to line up so we hopped in early & there were very few ahead of us our passes were stamped for the next day so we were going to be away from France before our leave started, after much pushing swearing stamping our feet to get warm. The order was about turn quick march & we found ourselves nearer the end of the column than the beginning & how did the boys march like mad. The Tommies in France could certainly step it out everybody was singing
