breakfast & I arrived back at the Camp, at the Chateau 1-30 PM Dec 18 after a holiday I shall never forget. If I had been asked there & then would I go away for another ten days leave I should have refused. My cold soon got better & our Bearers came back to us at last after spending a very rough time on the Somme, & we started to get a real good Xmas Dinner ready for them Dec 23 heard the very bad news that Nugget Bennet & Alick Gedwello late cooks of B Section were killed in action, before our bearers came back to the Unit this is very hard as it's our first men to get killed. Dec 25 Xmas Day 1916. We had a good breakfast for the Boys & the dinner consisted of Pea Soup, Fish Rissols, Potatoes, Vegetables, Plum Pudding & Brandy Sauce, Fruit, Nuts & Beer
