in memory of him but the Church is the real memorial of him. The women here do hard work its nothing to see one with a stack of wood larger than herself carrying it for miles & if a soldier asked to give her a hand she would refuse & say it was her living. We left Wirwignes Jan 30th at 5 am per motor lorry & arrived at St Omer 8 am for breakfast owing to the food restrictions we were obliged to proceed on our journey without breakfast. We passed through Hazebrook & Baileull & arrived at Loare in Belgium at 1 pm same day where we took over a rest station from the third field ambulance in a convent which seems to be a real home our new billets are good & we have only been here a few hours
