I had many a talk with her also the Sisters & I went to see most of what there was to be seen in the Convent their kitchen & bakehouse & laundery were the essence of cleanliness. Our butcher used to do the butchering for them as they used to cook for over 50 officers there.
About this time I did not feel too well so I paraded sick 19/3/18 & was sent away for an operation on March 20th to the Casualty No. 11 Clearing Station at Godewaersveldte for an operation I was marked Base, but on March 22 I volunteered to give a pint or so of my blood to save a mans life in case of emergancy, so my ticket was taken off me & I was given light work to do about the Preperation Ward where they get patients ready for the operating table. It is here that one really sees the grim tragedies of war
