Echelion who sent the reply to the O.C. with a note that I should be crimed for having the fearful audacity to write direct to them for information concerning one's brother however our O.C. had more sense than to crime me at such a time, I did not write to them without being told to do so at the base by a Sergeant who should not have had more knowledge of red tape than I, seeing he was constantly employed at the base. The 3rd Echelion confirmed my sisters letter, so he paid the price that thousands of other men did.
The Colonel of the 58 Battalion was evidently a sport as he encouraged boxing & had an improvised stadium built & we saw many a good fight however the Aussies generally beat the Yanks at the game. & we also saw many a good concert in the mills.
