Nov 28th I visited the famous Kemmel Hill & had a glorious view of the surrounding country. One could see the town of Lille & the villages behind Fritzs lines, one could also see our shells bursting in his lines & we could see Fritzs shells bursting behind our lines. I suppose such a sight is not often to be seen by all & sundary, so the reader must not be surprised when he reads that I visited this Hill several times & always took my glasses with me. Looking towards what is left of Ypres one could see the continuous flashes of our guns & towards dusk it looked a wonderful sight. Quite a lot of Generals & newspaper reporters visited the Hill & one day quite a number of Japanese officers
