were lying all over the place & doctors worked day & night. Men died soon after they arrived some were dead in the ambulances & even civilians we coming in. The blood which we volunteered to give was required over & over again but the doctors were so hard pressed that they had no time to do the transfusion, when tings grew a little quieter & the wounded were diverted to other C.C.S.s. The order came through to evacuate as Fritz was getting to near so the nurses were sent to St Omer, & after all the patients were removed I was sent on to No 10 C.C.S. The Lute C.C.S. was struck & the site turned into a Field Ambulance so one can guess how close the Huns were. From No 10 C.C.S. Remy Siding I was sent to a base hospital on April 13 for my operation. I went on board No 9 Hospital train which was a French train &
