we were a happy party aboard the Express that night. Glasgow was reached at 9.30 next morning, & after breakfast at his brothers place we left for his mothers place at Uddingstone 7 miles from the center of Glasgow where we had a royal welcome home, as the Scotch call it. Now I was to see the old year out & the new year in, in Glasgow so on Dec 31st we went to a play called the Boy & after we came out I saw such a crowd & so many trams that we decided to go home. It was on my way home I heard the bells everybody we met was wishing us a happy New Year & we had several drinks in fact nearly too many, & we got to bed after celebrating at 2 pm on January 1st 1918 I visited a coal mine in Glasgow & went down in
