this pen & I hope you can read this. The first batch left here on Wednesday to go back among the Turks & they left with true British pluck. The day before they marched all through Weymouth & they looked like hardened soldiers as lots of them still had the scars showing but quite healed up.

The morning they left it rained cats & dogs but we all gave  them a good send off & a lot of us marched with them to the station in spite of the rotten weather. The next batch leaves next week & there are lots here who would like to go with them, as when we see the crowd who are going to do more business & hear & see the band it sends a thrill through us. There is also a batch leaving for Australia early next month & I feel
