one shrapnel burst right overhead about twenty yards up. I was already in a shell hole & Scotty was down to it how we did not get hit is a marvel. Some Aussys walking along a duckboard track said he thought the pair of us were hit. We lost no time in getting home & did not even stay at the YMCA for a cup of soup. Needless to say we did not go near that place again for some time.
Feb 15th Fritz dropped bombs on Carnoy Dump with the result it was going off for days just like a big bombardment.Thousands of rounds of ammunition were exploded, railway trucks blown up & overturned.
