arrived at Etaples No 46 Stationary Hospital the same night, where I was told that I would have to work at the base while they were busy until such times as the operation could be performed. On April 17th I visited Etaples Cemetary where thousands of our soldiers are burried it is a very large place & one can only see a forrest of crosses the huge Cemetary is kept in order by Waacs girls sent out  from England to look after the graves. The graves are kept in good order & the girls who have a smart uniform including trousers were planting seeds & putting borders around. Here the dead are placed in a rough wooden coffin & not blankets like they get up the line.

I left No 46 Stationary Hospital on April 21st   went before a medical board April 23rd who said that men were urgently wanted, so I was
