Came off & took away the Gent.n [Gentleman] but as the Capt.n [Captain] was not in Attendance this morn to appeal against them he was brought on board again  -  he is a drunken lazy scamp  -  we have frequently throughout the voyage been obliged to tend the [...] because he was The same for liquor - he behaved middling towards us - for in the early part of the trip I gave him the old fiddle (of Stagg's) -  The Capt [Captain] has said he will have to lay low for a time.  They are [?] sails - The men have been well [?] coming of out of the ship not near enough hands - they came aft
