Since writing the [word crossed out] forgoing have shifted my Camp to the River Timbarra a miserable damp cold spot being a deep narrow valley high steep ranges of mountains on each side. The sun makes his appearance about 10 oclock = Was out for 2 or 3 days finding and marking a way for the man to take the pack horses to obtain provisions grass etc, during my absence a friend rode out to the Camp bringing me orders to proceed at once to Omeo to mark off a site for a Court House - Having just performed that business - sent of a plan Report etc I am on my way back again intended to have gone out today but as the weather decided to be back [?] rain hard I declined the honor [honour] of a walk of about

20 miles & a great part of the distance through scrub - but if fine will be off tomorrow the country being very high by some few thousand feet above the level of the Sea & during the winter months altho [although] very [?] unpleasantly cold [word crossed out] no end of sharp posts biting winds - there has already been falls of snow to the North etc so much so as to render it a task of great difficulty to cover[?] some of the "Big fellow" mountains. Thinking it might interest you I have scribbled down a few words of Black fellows lingo + [?] the phonetic style - Time for me to come to a close and with my best to Dr [dear] Mother & as [?] kind regards etc to all who [?] long more for me[?] [?] [?] most affec.
