permit you the guise of a lover in the meanwhile, but when the time comes I'll do my best to be absolutely candid and fair to us both - acting as I then believe best for the future of us both.
Please do not make love to me or ask a demonstration of effection from me. I am no hand at playing sweethearts but, believe me earnestly, I would prove your sister, mother, friend to the end of time should you seek these relationships of me at anywhere, any when. I am older than my years - and consequently older than you - and the feeling I hold for you is motherly yearning. And I succeed in hiding even that for fear you think something different, become encoraged without foundation, and so would have to suffer more & deeper later on. Do you understand? If so tell me, then we'll let this serious side of the question drop until such time as the big change comes; assuming the relationship of good friends on both sides.
I've put the 5 Franc piece away in a little silver box along with the egyptian coins you gave me; The camera spools I may or may not use. It feels desperately lonely without your company. We'll be awfully anxious until we hear from you. Love from mother & self
Marie
