some of the lyrics as songs. On certain conditions, I gave consent; and he has chosen two to begin with; "Love-Me-So", and "At The Parting Of The Ways". He informs me recently, that the scores are progressing rapidly - and the finished songs should find a ready market.. If they do sell at all, he'll set some more for me.
I've just this last week returned from spending a very happy week in Douglas. Being the height of the season, the amusements were in full swing; and I spent some most enjoyable evenings in consequence.
Did I tell you that the palace ball-room had been burnt down to the ground? It happened right in the middle of July, too; the best paying time of the year. It was a lovely hall. You never saw inside on account of it being used for war-work at the time you were in England; but had you done so, you could but have acknowledged its worth. The floor itself could accomodate 6,000 dancers at at time... And the decorations were acknowledged some of the finest in the world... My Dad happened to be a heavy share-holder. How we will fare thereby, we do not yet know.
I think you misunderstood a little, Harry dear, when drawing conclusions as to why we wanted the land out in your country. Father had no intention of buying it for farming purposes.. nor, perhaps, ever to reside upon at all. He wanted it principally as a transaction.
