You surprise me in what you say about Jennie Lawten's letter to you. Perhaps you'll remember, she wrote to us in the very same strain nearly three year ago... She told us her Dad was going to marry, and asked us to advise her as what to do... In reply we offered her a home with us, until she found something to do.... The end of it was - her father was not marrying at all, but she wanted to come over here for a holiday and bring him with her. My father would not have Uncle Richard here.... It was left to me to put either off. I wrote the best I could - but we've never heard from them since!... Mother says, its only a scheme of Jennies to get out to Aussie, and bids me warn you of it being so.
