To His Excellency
Govr. Bligh

[MS 217]

                                                 Sept. 23d. London 1808

Dear Sir,

I received your letters this week & am sorry for the unhappy differences that exist - but I hope they will all turn for the good of the Settlement in the End - I have heard from different Quarters that the officers got all my private Papers to Governor Bligh - this will not give me much Concern - they may put the whole of the in the public Prints or News Papers if it will give them any satisfaction - I shall remain in England till I see what Changes Government will make for the Safety and benefit of the Colony - Some Good will arise from all these Evils & have no doubt I will use all my interest for its general welfare - and will not leave this till some thing is done. I wish some others had been as prudent as Captain Abbott
