                                  Coventry Decr. 9. 1800
Dear Brother
Being informed by a Letter from Mr Hardcastle that a ship is about to sail for New Holland, I gladly seize the opportunity of writing a few lines to you to convince you that your old friends at Coventry do not forget you.
I cannot but rejoice and bless God whose grace preserves you steady & faithful in a distant land, when many, I fear, have proved unfaithful. We are much concerned to find that the Missions to the South Seas have so much failed. But I think your behaviour was very commendable.
I have not heard lately how the Brethren go on who continued at Otaheiti. The murder of our friends at Tongataboo was very affecting, as also the murder of poor Clode in New Holland. I thank you for the circumstantial account you was so kind as to send me of that affair, and also your journal. I shall be happy to hear that the new place which the Lord hath given you, is filled with his glory. I trust you & others will not labour in vain. Your patience might be tried but his word shall not return to him void. I doubt not you will reap in due time; therefore faint not. Many of the Lord's dear people here & elsewhere are praying for you, and more especially at the Monthly Prayer Meeting.
