Dear Brother
We have safely received your Letter of the 10th March 1804 addressed to Mr Hardcastle and we thank you for the intelligence it conveys to us regarding both the concerns of Religion at New South Wales, and the state of our Friends at Otahaite. We trust and beleive that God has placed You at Paramatta for advantageous and important purposes, & we pray that your devotedness to the cause of God may continue & increase; and that your success in every work of faith and labor of love, may be gratifying and abundant.
The Scenes which you witness in the Colonys must be very interesting & sometimes distressing. From it's nature and character iniquity must dreadfully abound, and this a Soul of a Good man must be intensely greived at the ungodly conversation and conduct of those who surround him. We believe DBror  that you have felt these affecting impressions & that all the holy passions of your soul have been excited in compassion for miserable and perishing sinners & for the honour of your God & Saviour. With these feelings and this devotedness we trust you have engaged in the very necessary and highly important work of preaching the Gospel of the Grace of God to the convicts and of instructing their children to the way of Salvation.
