Mr Oakes will receive nothing till the death of his mother, and not then unless he is in England - the sum I have been informed is about £80 - His friends will have wrote to him. I intend to call upon Mrs Crookes sister when we go to London again - the last time we were very busy - I saw her brother in law - I am very sorry for poor Shepherd, that he has lost his wife. If there is any bullock that can be spared out of my team that will answer for him better than his own - I wish him to have it - or if there is any one that can be broke in for him that is likely to answer his purpose. I would wish to give him any little assistance in my power - I received his letter a few days ago.   Norman's Things are addressed for him in the book - I will settle with him for them when we arrive - the other you will do the best you can with  - There is also a bonnet sent for Sally by Mrs Marsden Mrs Hoskins will the [?].. that

We are all very well -  there are very hard times in England. the poor greatly distressed - riots and distrubances in the large towns - and no work for the poor - N.S. Wales in many respects is better than England in these troublesome times  - what the event will be God only knows - people appear much alarmed and afraid if civil Commotions as well as foreign wars - what is to be done / no person knows - you will hear the state of Spain there is no Spanish King now -
    I took a bill of ... drawn by William Aspinall on Mrs Curn (?) - the Bill has  returned to me unpaid - I have taken some trouble to get it paid, but am not likely to succeed - you will mention this to Aspinall as he will be indebted to me the £200 pounds - it has been a disappointment to me having so many good for nothing bills -------------------------
