[ MS 172]

same night she was dashed all to pieces and part
of the crew perished, there were sevaral[ Ladies
on board - it was a very awfule night I think
I never heard the wind below so hard - and yet
we were spared, such warnings are awfule and
ought to impress our minds with the great goodness of God in sparing us, and makes us more
diligent to examine, is our hearts right with God, and are we prepared to appear before him
should we be called away at a moments warning.
do we see our nothingness, our depravity, and the
deceitfulness, of our own hearts and is Christ all in
all to our Souls - - I saw Mr Burden and was
very much pleased with him - your box I left
with our own on board the ship expecting it would
come round, but she is in such a bad state, but
the box will come with ours - I was very little
out when in London I was so very unwell

[MS 173]

I wrote to your Lister and sent your Letter - and
I since heard from her but she declines going
on account of her Father, it would be to much
for the old man to part with her - I also saw
one of Mrs Crooks Brother - who was very well - will
you tell Mr Crook his friend Mr Higgins was
very bad and not expected to live - Mr & Mrs Savage
is gone out to India - she sent me a box [??], if
you have not parted with the things I would
wish them to be kept unless there is anything
Mrs Hassal wishes for self - I went on [??] -
the things also of Mr Savage that was left in
House I have settled for. I long very much to
hear from you what changes has taken, and how
you are all going on. I think if opportunity
offers we shall leave England in the course
of next summer Mr Wilson has a Ship to sail but I am
afraid she will be ready before Mr Marsden
has settled his affairs -
