to [had?] that Mr Elder has married Miss Mary Smith / Whose Parents are very creditable settlers and live at Baulkham Hills in this colony / I have no doubt but that Mrs Elder will prove a good wife and a useful branch of your Society - she has always borne a good character and therefore I have the greatest pleasure in recommending her to your attention and sincerely pray that she may be an ornment to the Mission.  God willing you will receive them by this conveyance -. I have just received a letter from the Revd Samuel Marsden dated London 4 January 1808 wherein he says  -  "I have seen many of the missionary society and shall endeavour to settle the business of the Mission at Otaheiti" - he expects to be hear again in about 5 - or 6 months when you will hear many things that will gladen your hearts and strengthen your

faith in the Mighty God of Jacob - don't let the enimy of the work you are engaged in tempt you to mistrust and think you are forgoten or forsaken either by your God or your friends, no you ly near their hearts - and I have no doubt but that God will take to himself his great Power and work woonders in the Islands of these Seas and numbers yet unborn shall join the Song of the Redeemed - as my Friends say when they wrote to me Mr Elder can give you all the local news of the Colony therefore  I refer you to him - Mrs Hassall joines [joins] me and family in Christian love to each & every one of you and  we pray that the fullness
 and every newful Blessing may rest upon you
