The present Duke has apparently no [indecipherable] that way & the grounds as well as the houses show evidence of a want of care. Lyon House itself is a noble old building. The [indecipherable] Statues & [indecipherable] decorations were well worth seeing, but there were so many guests that it was impossible to get more than a hasty view & [indecipherable] on to the gardens. I mentioned dear William to her. I am taking a plant in these [indecipherable]. I ask myself "Can I myself be I" and my heart gives thanks to those dear old times when the sight of an strange face would have put me in an [indecipherable]. So are grieved to find that you have not made a better recovery from that early accident, & that you
