May 24th [1845]

My dearest Brother,
It was indeed a great pleasure to me, to find the affectionate letter from you awaiting me here, on our return from Italy about a month since - We had heard of you from Sarah, but the first welcome intelligence of your safe arrival we [indecipherable] was on the day after we arrived at Rome (7th of March) by Mrs. Hodgson, who also lent us the Sydney papers, containing several of the very flattering receptions offered to you, and of the dinner at Camden - all of which interested us much, and must indeed have been highly gratifying to you all.  I am truly grateful to hear that your health is so much improved.  One of the persons who saw you in the Colony before they left, tell Henry that there is a marked improvement in your appearance, & that you do
