of sycamore trees.  Returned to Arden [?] to lunch & afterwards took an affect farewell of Mrs. & Ms. Neill.  The weather was very wet & stormy, wh prevented us from going as previously arranged, to Eglinton the seat of Ld. Eglinton with whose family the Neills have been intimate from childhood.  Miss N. gave me an interesting acct of the celebrated tournament at wh she & her family have all present.  Miss N. was one of the [indecipherable] she attended the Queen of [indecipherable].  Her dress and Tunic of plaid satin trimmed with [indecipherable] down - skirt of which satin with a plaid hat & white plume of feathers.  27th Very tempestuous all plans in abeyance -.
28th. Our kind friends very reluctant to part with us, & numerous invitations been pleaded as an inducement to us to remain, but as we had determined to go
[In margin]  At Eglington, 2 packs of hounds are kept and there were 46 horses in the stable.
