Poor James was the chief topic of conversation, he had heard of the death [indecipherable] . We left Aix that afternoon & did not meet again. Our train was [indecipherable] very late so instead of nearly 2 hours to see Cologne, it's bridge and Cathedral we had but about 15 minutes which we devoted to the latter. [indecipherable] I do not think there was anything which more touched me- it was really Sublime but as I said, we had so short a time to stay - and had to [indecipherable] by the train about to start for Coblentz - [indecipherable] we passed Bonn. The scenery is nothing particular. [indecipherable] which was [indecipherable] up at high [indecipherable] point all the way - nothing being [indecipherable] gorgeous scene but a large [indecipherable] on the tour and harvest [indecipherable] of every kind going on - [indecipherable] with loving
