The grounds with Mrs. Aligardier, the Sister of our hostess who proved to be the wife of an old Sydney acquaintance in the 28th Regt - at 4oC returned to by Kilbride & Androssan where we had again been invited to spend a few days. On the 1st evening a quiet family party - with whist etc.
25th Morn. Spent quitely at home, the ladies working & chatting while the gentlemen walked out - after lunch paid a round of visits & in the evening a large party met us at dinner. Mr. Fullerton of Kerclaw Castle asked us to his house on the following morn. - 26th. Miss Neill [indecipherable] H & myself to Kerclaw a beautiful estate of 900 acres in the highest state of cultivation - extensive gardens enclosed in walls of gt height - a model Dairy & choice cattle of the famous Ayrshire breed The Estate presents a Park like appearance - & in the former approach to the ruins of an old castle, there is a noble avenue [continued on page 128]
