My Dear Mr Hassall,
I know it will give you great pleasure to hear of our safe arrival in England particularly when you learn the great danger we were in before we arrived - it was great mercie that we did arrive for never ship entered port in a worse situation than ours, her Bowsprit was loose and in a very leaky condition she made three foot water a Hour for the last few hours before we came to an anchor.
