is thronged with transports - a wonderful sight. In the streets of the ancient city of Alexandria you can see Australians, New Zealanders, British, French, Indians too - Cavalry, infantry, marines, artillery & all the departmental corps getting ready to leave for the front. As I remarked before - there are big things looming ahead.
Another little skirmish on the Suez Canal yesterday. These outpost affairs may be the prelude to a further attack, but most likely they are the last expiring kicks of the heathen & demoralised Turks. These demonstrations can no longer serve to keep our troops any longer in Egypt.
Thanks (Pater & Clarrie) for the papers which come regularly to hand. They are most acceptable and tell me how the world is treating Australia. I can buy the Bulletin here & the Australasian but I rarely see the Sydney Mail. I sent a little sketch to the Mail recently on "Sermons in Stones". You might send it along if it sees daylight. I got a copy of the Sunday Sun a couple of days ago . It gave a very readable account of doings on the transport. I happened to see it in manuscript on the boat..... By the bye, I am sending home, this mail, the 'Transport Trumpeter'. Only 4 copies were printed I think of each issue. Only two issues were issued . The reason was that I had to write nearly the whole thing myself, and much as I liked work (?) I kicked. For I had not nearly enough
