My dear Father, Mother, Anne, Jean, Tien,Did, Phil, Clarrie, Jim, Frank, all the Nephewses & Nieces, Mabel, Viva, Francie Nora N, Mollie M, Ida C, Linda & Viv, Daphne M, Leoda, Glad L, Bill L, Mrs Bill L, Mrs Kyle, Mrs Williams, Auntie Lizzie, Farmer Whyte, Perry Allen, Maggie Muir
When I gaze in awe at the distinguished list of heads this poor insignificant chronicle, I vow solemnly to write an epistle worthy of such an honour. Yet scarcely have I put pen to paper when duty calls & I am efsoons [soon after] by my halidom [sanctuary] whisked thither & yon. Hence must I plead for leniency and charity in case of a disconnected narrative. I have to start with an apology but it cant be helped.
Easter has come and gone. We had no hard boiled eggs, no hot cross buns, no ling or Salmon. But we did have omlettes & quail on toast & chicken & curry & strawberries (no cream) & oranges & custard & jelly & Turkish coffee & Nile Fish & pancakes & fritters & [indecipherable] butter & beautiful jams & marmalade & cigars... So while we missed the hot X buns we managed to get a snack. So dont you be wasting
